Off-Road Mental Health Retreat

Our 2024 Retreat has been POSTPONED

Virginia First Responder Support Services is hosting our Annual Off-Road Retreat focusing on building mental health resiliency and support through good times with peers.   1. What is this retreat about?

    The goal of this retreat is to promote true brotherhood and to build supportive relationships with other first responders through a fun time and good conversations. No hidden agenda. Just having fun and hanging out.

  2. How much will it cost?

    Nothing. It’s all expenses paid including lodging, 3 meals per day, and trail fees.

  3. What about transportation?

    Transportation will be provided from Verona, Va. to Bluefield, Va. free of charge. If you, or the person you nominate, requires assistance getting to and from Verona, Va. please let us know and additional arrangements can be made.

  4. How many people are going?

    There are 5 spots available. Additional VFRSS support staff will also be attending. ALL attendees will be 1st responders.

  5. What “mental health” stuff are we going to be doing?

    Just talking with other first responders. Nothing structured. No mental health professionals. No kumbaya.

  6. Do I need to bring my own ATV?

    Nope, we’ve got you covered! Generous donors from around the state have donated their ATVs for our retreat. For insurance reasons any 1st responder attending as a guest of VFRSS will be a PASSENGER.

  7. How do I apply or nominate someone?

    Please send an email to JoshMawyer@gmail.com or call him at (540)280-2414 with information about how this retreat may be beneficial to you or the person you’re nominating. Attendees will be chosen by the VFRSS board after the nomination period has ended.
