VFRSS is a non-profit 501(c)(3) charity located in Virginia's beautiful Shenandoah Valley.

The mission of VFRSS is to provide mental health and emotional support services to all first responders no matter the need. VFRSS will provide confidential non-judgmental peer support consisting of, but not limited to, healing conversations and referral to a qualified mental health professional if necessary. No first responder who requests help will be turned away for any reason. VFRSS will provide training for first responders and peer support team members who request it.

We value the concept of family within first responder’s organizations. This includes understanding that it is your responsibility as first responders to be your brother’s and sister's keeper in their time of need. We also value honesty, confidentiality, and evidenced-based approaches to mental health support and emotional wellness.

VFRSS partners with mental health professionals who have been trained to provide services to first responders based on the guidelines set forth by Fire Life Safety Initiative #13.
