Virginia First Responder Support Services offers a comprehensive 2 day peer support training program along with a variety of independent courses (1-2 hours) for first responders and their families. Overview of symptoms of stress, PTSD, depression, and anxiety
Introduction to and development of active listening strategies, non-verbal communication skills, and crisis intervention strategies.
Learn how to build rapport with your fellow first responders on and off the job.
Identify local mental health resources
Upon completion of this program, individuals are eligible to volunteer as members of VFRSS's peer support team and can respond to a peer's request for support.
Learn how to build and manage your own Peer Support Team and develop applicable S.O.P.s or General Orders
